Do you awaken with pain in your jaw? Do you have frequent headaches or soreness and pain in your neck and shoulder? Do you grind and clench your teeth?
These symptoms all indicate a problem with your TMJ or jaw joint that controls the lower jaw movement. If the TMJ becomes damaged or overworked due to excessive teeth grinding, injury to the jaw, or a misaligned dental bite, you experience TMJ pain.
TMJ Pain Treatment in Lexington, KY
When we approach treatment for TMJ pain, the goal is to improve the function and mobility of the joint. Stress is often a source of TMJ pain and tension, so the first step might be medication therapy or relaxing activities like meditation.
Just as often, however, jaw joint pain can result from teeth grinding and clenching while you sleep. In this case, our Lexington TMJ dentist would recommend a custom night guard that prevents your teeth from touching, which allows the jaw joint to rest.
We Can Help Resolve Your TMJ Pain
If the symptoms of a painful jaw joint compromise your comfort and quality of life, call the team at Garden Springs Dental. Dr. Davis and Dr. Edens are experienced in providing TMJ pain relief for their 40504 patients. They will examine to locate the source of your pain and provide treatment to eliminate your TMJ pain.
ClearCorrect Invisible Braces
If you’re an adult who loves the idea of a straighter smile without a mouthful of metal, we offer the perfect solution! Orthodontic treatment with ClearCorrect invisible braces is more discreet, convenient, and comfortable than conventional braces.
Why Lexington Patients Love ClearCorrect
Invisible braces are an excellent choice for straightening mild to moderate teeth misalignments, but many adults also choose them to improve the aesthetics of their smile. In either case, there are many reasons to consider ClearCorrect:
- The smooth plastic aligners won’t irritate sensitive tissues in your mouth.
- Since the aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions
- Crystal-clear plastic material blends discreetly with your smile
- You can remove the aligners for efficient, thorough oral hygiene
- Treatment times are shorter in many cases, sometimes as little as a year.
Based on the extent of misalignment, you will receive several sets of customized aligner trays that are designed to nudge your teeth step by step into the desired position. Wear each set at least 22 hours a day for about two weeks, then advance to the next set in the series.
Each time you move to the next set of aligners, you will see and feel the difference in the positioning of your teeth. Continue this way until you use all your aligners and treatment is complete!
ClearCorrect Consultations in Lexington
If you think that ClearCorrect invisible braces might be an option for you, please call Garden Springs Dental to arrange a consultation with Dr. Chris Davis or Dr. Gregory Edens. They’ll discuss your concerns, evaluate your smile, and get you started on your way to a more balanced and beautiful smile!
If you want to maintain your straight smile after treatment with ClearCorrect invisible braces in Lexington, you must wear a retainer. Without a retainer, your teeth can quickly relapse into a crooked position and undo all your efforts.
With any type of orthodontic treatment, there are three stages: planning, active, and retention. Each builds upon the other to help straighten crooked or crowded teeth and then maintain the results.
During planning, you and your dentist in Lexington determine if invisible braces are the most appropriate approach for your unique needs. Your step-by-step treatment plan is mapped out, and then you are ready for the active stage.
With ClearCorrect, you wear the customized clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day, removing them only for meals, oral hygiene, or an occasion like a job interview.
When you have finished wearing all your aligners, you start the retention stage. Our 40504 dentists will explain why wearing a retainer is crucial and which type will help you maintain optimal results. Your teeth are always moving to some extent, and not wearing your retainer allows them to gradually revert to their original crooked position.
At Garden Springs Dental, we help lots of adult patients who had braces as a child but didn’t wear their retainer and now need retreatment. While it may seem inconvenient to remember to wear a retainer, when you compare it to the inconvenience of going through Invisalign treatment again, it’s a very small price to pay.
Do you have other questions about wearing a retainer, or are you interested in seeing if invisible braces are right for you? Please call our Lexington, KY dental office so we can schedule an appointment to get started.
Because your teeth withstand a lot of daily wear and tear, there’s no dental restoration that is considered to be permanent. At Garden Springs Dental, we create durable dental crowns, bridges, and porcelain veneers by using long-lasting, premium materials—but we will need to replace all of them eventually.
Cosmetic Dentistry in 40504 with Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers in Lexington, KY are ultra-thin shells of ceramic or porcelain that our dentists bond to the front surface of a tooth, and they can last as long as ten years if you care for them correctly. That means being conscientious with brushing and flossing, avoiding foods that could chip your veneers, and visiting your dentist at least twice a year for dental exams and cleanings.
There’s also another factor to think about when considering porcelain veneers. Since adding the veneer to your tooth also adds a bit of bulk, we must compensate by removing a thin layer of dental enamel. This way, when your dental veneers are in place, they will blend naturally with surrounding teeth for a natural appearance.
Your smile will look symmetrical and beautiful with porcelain veneers, but since we alter your tooth, wearing them is a lifetime commitment. If you would like similar results to veneers without changing your real teeth, ask us about cosmetic dental bonding, a conservative alternative to veneers.
If you have other questions about porcelain veneers, please call our cosmetic dentists in Lexington, KY to schedule a convenient appointment.

Crowns and Bridges
When a tooth breaks, often a dental crown is needed to restore it to normal function. A crown typically covers all surfaces of the tooth and requires the shaving down and shaping of all of these surfaces. Local anesthesia is given to “numb” the nerve of the tooth prior to any preparation so no pain is felt. The remaining tooth structure is then scanned with our 3D scanner and the scan is uploaded into our In-house crown system.
The Crown Application
A crown is then designed and milled, in-house, to precisely fit the original prepped tooth and replace the removed structure. After milling, the crown is cemented over the original tooth with a resin cement. The crown is made of porcelain and is the same color and texture as your original tooth.
In some cases, the crown may need to be created in a dental lab based on the specific conditions of your tooth and mouth. This may require a separate crown insert appointment. Don't worry though, a temporary crown will be made and placed over the prepped tooth to protect it until your permanent crown is inserted.
Dental Crowns in Lexington
Any questions or need to book an appointment? Contact our team here at Garden Springs Dental for more information.
Dental crowns are a versatile dental restoration and have been used to protect millions of smiles over the decades they have been in use. Because they are so popular, you may already know that a crown is designed to fit over and surround a damaged tooth.
Crowns can be made from several materials, but the most popular choice are all-ceramic crowns because they blend seamlessly with surrounding teeth. Here are three of the most common reasons our Lexington, KY dentist recommends dental crowns:
- Protect a damaged tooth – We can use tooth fillings for many types of repairs, but when the damage is too extensive, we would recommend a dental crown because it encases the tooth to strengthen and preserve it.
- After root canal treatment – A root canal is needed to remove infected tissue and save a tooth from extraction. It preserves tooth structure but tends to make the tooth brittle and prone to fracture, so we often recommend a crown for added strength.
- Improve your smile – Since dental crowns conceal a tooth, we also use them for aesthetic purposes. A crown can hide damaged or stained teeth, close wide gaps, or alter the shape of a tooth to improve its appearance.

Dental Implants in Lexington, KY
Fear of pain is usually the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of any dental service. The good news with implant dentistry in the 40504 area is that it typically requires less dental anesthetic to place an implant than it does to have a simple filling done. Most implants are placed with proper numbing localized to the area of the implant, however certain sleep/sedation dentistry options are also available.
Avoid smoking, keep blood sugar under control if diabetic, and take all Rx medications. And of course, call us with any questions or concerns.
Dental Implants at Garden Springs Dental
The first step is to set up a consultation appointment with Dr. Jones. At this appointment Dr. Jones will review all aspects of implant dentistry in Lexington, KY with the patient. A CBCT (3D scan) will be taken of the patient to evaluate the patient’s bone and see if implants are an option. A financial presentation will also be given to the patient by one of our treatment coordinators to help the patients better understand their insurance and various payment options.
Though every patient is different, most can resume a softer diet the day of placing the implant. As you begin the healing process, you can listen to your body on just how quickly you want to resume harder foods.
We ask you avoid harder foods, as well as hot foods for a few days following the procedure.
A general rule is somewhere in neighborhood of 3-6 months. However, this time period can change on a case by case basis and can be longer or shorter depending on the patient and clinical situation.
It takes around 4-6 months for certain implants to integrate. We like to wait until the implant has fully integrated before loading (placing crown).
After reviewing your CBCT (3D scan) and your medical history, if Dr. Jones determines that you may not be a good candidate for implants, Dr. Jones will review all other treatment options available to you to obtain your desired results.
An implant is made of Titanium, which is one the most bio-compatible materials on the market. It is placed in the bone and acts as an artificial root.
Full & Partial Dentures
The cost of dentures in Lexington, KY depends on several factors. The area where you live, the type of dentures we recommend, and the quality of the material used all dictate the cost. But in large part, it’s the materials that drive the cost of dentures up or down.
Full & Partial Dentures Near Lexington, KY
Dentures made with plastic prosthetic teeth are the most cost-effective, and a full set of uppers and lowers usually cost about $1,000. At first glance, this seems like an affordable solution. However, the material used is low quality, so the dentures don’t always look natural, and they may also irritate your mouth.
Mid-priced dentures of higher quality material are around $3,000 for a full set of uppers and lowers. These dentures tend to look more natural and last longer than the lower priced option.
Dentures made using premium materials are customized to enhance your appearance and cost about $8,000 for a complete set. These are the most natural-looking because the artificial teeth are made of a material that closely mimics the appearance of natural teeth. We have total control over the shape, shade, size, and positioning of each tooth, and the result is a set of dentures that look as close to real teeth as possible.
There’s no doubt that premium dentures are an investment. However, if you’ve ever spent a moment wearing dentures that look fake or don’t fit well, you know that the difference in comfort and appearance is well worth the price.
We can give you a better estimate of the cost of dentures in Lexington, KY when we meet with you. Please call Garden Springs Dental to arrange an appointment to get started.
However, while we talk a lot about advanced options like dental implants, a tried-and-true approach like partial dentures still have their place in many cases.
Are You a Candidate for Partial Dentures?
- Most of your teeth are healthy, but you’re missing a few teeth here that leave gaps in your smile. Partial dentures are an excellent solution in this case because we customize them to fit in and around remaining teeth like a puzzle.
- You want to replace some teeth with dental implants, but would like to get dental implants, but you don’t have the budget for them right now. You like the idea of getting dental implants, but you can’t manage the cost in your budget right now. If implants aren’t a possibility for you, our doctors create partial dentures in Lexington, KY that fit comfortably and look as close to natural teeth as possible.
- You’re tired of covering your mouth when you smile or forgoing the foods you love, and you want your smile back. Living like this can take a toll on your life, but partial dentures will restore function and allow you to smile confidently again.
Tooth Replacement in Lexington
Please call Garden Springs Dental to arrange an appointment with one of our doctors to discuss your needs and how we can help.
Dental bridges and partial dentures are similar in that they fill the space left by a missing tooth. They both improve your ability to speak and chew and prevent neighboring teeth from drifting into the open space. But they accomplish the job in different ways, and there are pros and cons to each.
What Makes a Partial Denture?
We design a partial denture as a removable prosthetic to replace multiple missing teeth. A partial denture is constructed using natural-looking artificial teeth attached to a molded acrylic base that matches your gum color. Partial dentures are attached to remaining teeth with metal or acrylic clasps.
You may also hear dental bridges referred to as fixed partials, and they literally “bridge” the gap with an artificial tooth that’s attached to anchor teeth on either side of the open space. Bridges are fixed because only a dentist can remove them.
Smile Restorations in Lexington KY
Partial dentures tend to be less expensive and easier to adjust and repair, but they can break or get lost, unlike bridges that are securely attached to anchor teeth on either side. However, because the bridge relies on adjacent teeth for support, it’s essential that you keep them healthy with brushing, flossing, and preventive dental visits.
If you’re considering partial dentures or dental bridges in Lexington, KY, please call Garden Springs Dental, and we will be happy to answer all your questions.

The short answer is that getting a root canal doesn’t hurt; it’s the infection inside your tooth that is painful, and root canal therapy removes the infected material, thereby relieving your pain. A root canal is also an essential procedure that’s needed to save an infected or severely decayed tooth from extraction.
Root Canal Treatment in Lexington, KY
At Garden Springs Dental, we perform comfortable root canals for our Lexington, KY patients. Many of them even comment that the procedure was more comfortable than they imagined it could be!
One reason we can accomplish this is that our caring dental team makes your comfort a priority, regardless of the treatment we provide. We want you to see how great it can feel to know your teeth and gums are healthy, so it’s important to us that you don’t hesitate to turn to us when you have a problem like an infected tooth and a throbbing toothache.
Dr. Chris Davis and Dr. Gregory Edens, Jr. have decades of experience between them and utilize the very latest in digital imaging technology. Using diagnostic tools like digital and panoramic x-rays that allow them to see the inside of your tooth in great detail, they can plan the most efficient procedure to remove the painful infection.
If you have a toothache, a raised bump on your gums, or a bad taste in your mouth, you may be experiencing the signs of an infected tooth. You may need a root canal, call our Lexington, KY dental office.
The answer is that you won’t know if you need a root canal until you make an appointment at Garden Springs Dental. Dr. Davis will perform a thorough exam and take x-rays to determine what the problem is and whether or not root canal treatment (endodontics) is needed.
Why We Perform Root Canals
A tooth often needs a root canal as a result of an untreated cavity, injury to the tooth, or prior dental work. The first symptom most people notice is severe pain; however, not all root canal infections involve pain. We recommend dental exams every six months because they allow us to detect and treat problems like infected root canals long before they cause you pain.
Root canal treatment is not nearly as complicated or difficult as you may believe. Updated techniques and technology combined with supportive care and soothing nitrous oxide make the procedure absolutely nothing to fear. In fact, you should view a root canal as your ticket to relief because that’s exactly what it is.
Dr. Davis will remove all infected material, fill the root canals, and seal the tooth. If we don’t eliminate the infection, your pain will worsen and continue, and you will likely lose the tooth.
Gentle Root Canals in Lexington KY
If you are in pain, please call Garden Springs Dental. Dr. Davis has over 20 years of experience performing comfortable root canals in Lexington, KY and he can help you too.
The only way to properly whiten teeth is by using Hydrogen Peroxide. Whitening toothpaste only removes surface stains from coffee, tea, and smoking. Professional Tooth Whitening will change the deep shade of the tooth over time.
How Teeth Whitening Works
Bleaching trays are fabricated by the dentist to fit the patient’s teeth precisely. A gel solution is given to the patient to place in the trays. The trays should be worn for a period of about 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. Over 2-3 weeks, the teeth being treated with the hydrogen peroxide gel in the trays will noticeably change shades. Some teeth with a darker beginning shade may take longer to whiten and extra hydrogen peroxide gel may need to be purchased.
After the desired shade is reached, the patient should touch up as needed to maintain their whitening progress. Call our office to learn more about our whitening services.
Part of being a great dentist involves being there when you need us. We are available to handle most of your dental emergencies here at Garden Springs Dental, including tooth extractions.
We offer options for replacing missing teeth, but natural teeth are the best teeth. Our goal is to do everything we can to keep them healthy and intact, so they serve you for many years.
But things don’t always go as planned, and sometimes removing a tooth right away is necessary to protect your overall oral health. If you need an emergency tooth extraction in Lexington, KY, call our dental team to provide the care you need to protect your smile.
Emergency Dental Extractions in Lexington, KY
Emergency tooth extractions are most commonly related to severe decay, infection, or dental abscess that we cannot control with a root canal. An infected root canal often presents with a throbbing toothache, and if the disease is too advanced, we will need to pull the tooth.
You can avoid the need for an emergency tooth extraction in Lexington, KY by being proactive with your oral health. Brush and floss daily and stay current with your six-month dental exams and cleanings, and you can avoid many dental emergencies, including tooth extractions.
If you’re in pain, please call our Lexington, KY dentist right away, and we’ll arrange to see you the same day if possible.
